CodeSense Journals

This site serves as a place for the development team at CodeSense to log their experiences, things they learn, and points of insight relevant to web development. Every web development shop has a point where, on any given day, they run across a problem that they are virtually certain faces thousands of other developers as well. That was the inspiration for what you see here, a simple way for us to post solutions we've come up with for the world to see. In some cases though, you'll probably find us babbling about things we just think are plain cool. We hope you find the resources here helpful and concise.

Development influences / topics

Most of the subjects of our postings are going to be about a few main programming related topics:

  • LAMP system administration
  • PHP / MySQL application development
  • XHTML / CSS / Javascript tips and tricks
  • Ruby on Rails best practices
  • Ethical / green SEO

We might meander a bit from this course, but these are the subjects of our work, so we probably won't stray from them for long.

Huge shout outs go to EllisLab, 37Signals and MediaTemple. Their products make our lives easier and you'll probably end up seeing many entries here related specifically to implementing better usage of them. So for all of you that are fans of BaseCamp, HighRise, ExpressionEngine, CodeIgniter or Plesk, you're not alone!

Plans for the future

Obviously, this journal thing is still in its infancy, so bear with us while we get things up and running. We need to get some content in here before really fleshing out most of the features, but eventually we plan for the following:

  • user forums: designed to support complex questions specific to projects from top to bottom
  • tutorials: full length and proffesional tutorials about pressing issues in web development
  • weekly videos: get to see our faces and know us in person, hear what we have to say about business on the internet
  • internet meta resources: we're going to integrate our journals here with services you all know and love such as twitter and squidoo
